Measurement Technique for Microwave Surface Resistance of Additive Manufactured Metals

چکیده

Additive manufactured (AM) metals are a subject of much interest for their performance in passive microwave applications. However, limitations could arise due to artifacts, such as surface texture and/or roughness resulting from the manufacturing process. We have, therefore, adopted parallel plate resonator accurate measurement resistance flat metal plates, allowing current flow two orthogonal directions by simply exciting different resonant mode (at 5.3 and 6.4 GHz), without need remove refix sample. The systematic random errors associated with very small, less than 1% 0.1%, respectively. technique is demonstrated measurements on range samples alloys, AlSi10Mg Ti6Al4V, laser powder bed fusion, addition traditionally machined bulk alloys aluminum brass. For AM AlSi10Mg, we have studied effect directional features, generated raster paths, transverse or flow. Importantly device applications, demonstrate that these exhibit no anisotropy features.

Printing Three-Dimensional Electrical Traces in Additive Manufactured Parts for Injection of Low Melting Temperature Metals

While techniques exist for the rapid prototyping of mechanical and electrical components separately, this paper describes a method where commercial additive manufacturing (AM) techniques can be used to concurrently construct the mechanical structure and electronic circuits in a robotic or mechatronic system. The technique involves printing hollow channels within 3D printed parts that are then f...

Infrared Thermopile Temperature Measurement Technique in Microwave Heating Systems

Temperature measurement in microwave systems is essential for thermally driven processes, namely, catalytic reactions and ceramic sintering. Although, the application of direct thermometry methods, namely, thermocouples, have been commonly articulated in the available literature, however, contacted temperature measurement mechanisms have aroused concerns associated with the disruption of the el...

High-resolution micro-CT as a tool for 3D surface roughness measurement of 3D additive manufactured porous structures

Since commercially available profiling systems fail when determining the surface roughness of 3D additive manufactured porous structures, a novel protocol for surface roughness quantification of these porous structures has been developed based on high-resolution micro-CT images. The influence of the noise in the images and the spatial image resolution on the accuracy of the micro-CT-based rough...

Characterization of Additive Manufactured Objects

Hybrid Layered Manufacturing (HLM) combines the benefits of both subtractive and Additive Manufacturing (AM). In this paper authors did characterization of AM components by using Kernel Average Misorientation (KAM), Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) and hardness tester. The main focus is on matrix integrity during Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) deposition and surface quality during machinin...

Noncontact electrical resistivity measurement technique for molten metals

A noncontact technique of measuring the changes in electrical conductivity ~or resistivity! of conducting liquids is reported. The technique is based on a conducting drop that is levitated by the high-temperature electrostatic levitator in a high vacuum. This technique, which utilizes the principle of the asynchronous induction motor, measures the relative changes in torque as a function of tem...
